Koehler Kraft Present Day

HISTORY:

Koehler Kraft Company (originally Mercury Marine) was founded in 1938 as a builder of a popular line of mahogany sport fishing boats and racing runabouts. Clarence Koehler Sr. moved the yard to its current Shelter Island location in 1952. In 1956, Koehler Kraft built the first San Diego Harbor patrol and rescue boat. At the time, this ultra-modern craft boasted radar and fire-fighting capabilities with a top speed of over 40 knots. (still faster than the current fleet)

CF Koehler Jr. now owns and operates the yard after working with his father for over 20 years. Today, Koehler Kraft offers a unique combination of the best traditional skills and modern techniques and technology.

KOEHLER KRAFT:

From routine maintenance to major repairs or refits, Koehler Kraft offers a full range of services for all types of modern and classic boats.

Koehler Kraft is staffed by a team of master shipwrights, mechanics, welders, and finish specialists who are experts in the latest technologies and traditional skills for boat repair.
