1962 Kettenburg 50

In 1965 Akamai was owner by Robert D. Alexander of Santa Barbara Yacht Club and was berthed in the harbor there.

A participant in the infamous 1965 Transpac Race where the fleet sailed into a storm with winds of 25-50 knots. Many boats lost sails, rigs, and/or spinnaker poles and had major damage. Akamai was among those who lost her rig but luckily did not suffer hull damage.

The current owners acquired K50 hull #4 in early 2009. At that time, she was named Nordia (previously Bravata II, so we understand), but originally launched as Akamai. A veteran of two transpac races, K50 hull #4 underwent a complete restoration at our facility and was re-launched in summer 2011. The boat was rechristened as Akamai.
