the last original California 32
Designed by Nicholas Potter and built in 1937 at Fellows & Stewart boat yard, Tempest was one of five sailboats built for each executive of McDonnell Douglas Aircraft. Only two remain. Potter called the design a California 32, because she is 32' at the waterline (46' LOA). 10' beam and 7' draft. She has been meticulously maintained and restored over the years, and has had the same owner for over 30 years who passed away recently. She is a registered historic vessel and has been featured in Wooden Boat Magazine, Cruising World Magazine, and was on the cover of a calendar. See the listing on Craigslist.
